Iridium

Iridium is a hard, brittle, lustrous, silvery-white, dense metal of the platinum group. It is also the most corrosion-resistant metal. Pure iridium is generally used as a hardening agent for platinum. Iridium crucibles are commonly used for growing large high-quality single crystals. Now iridium is also often used to coat the electrodes in the chlor-alkali process and in catalyst.
